Nanotechnology - Option

Nanotechnology involves science and engineering on the nanometer scale (generally less than or of order 100nm). The field involves the design, synthesis, and processing of nanoscale structures for engineering applications. In some cases, this can involve the assembly of materials one molecule or even one atom at a time. The extremely small scale of nanomaterials often results in novel behaviors that can be exploited to produce innovative technologies and devices. Because of this, nanotechnology has broad application, for example in electronics and biotechnology. EPP offers the Nanotechnology Option with the Master of Materials Science and Engineering program. Within the option, students can pursue a concentration in nanomaterials or biotechnology.
